Meet the Team: Teresa Hogan, Safety Assistant

Teresa Hogan

For Teresa Hogan, working at Blue Ridge Power is a family affair. Teresa’s husband worked for Horne Brothers Construction as a mechanic, and her son also joined the company after serving in the military. After seeing how much they enjoyed their work and the company culture, Teresa became a layout installer about four years ago. They all became Blue Ridge Power employees once BRP acquired Horne Brothers.

In the fall of 2020, Teresa switched gears and became BRP’s Safety Assistant. Working out of the Fayetteville office, Teresa gives safety onboarding to all new construction hires, manages the operator matrix, and tracks all on-site safety incidents and accidents in the company’s incident tracker report.

Teresa’s experience working on-site gave her a firsthand perspective on the safety issues facing construction employees:

“I was in the field. I was boots on the ground, so I know what they’re going through. My favorite part of the job is doing safety onboarding. It’s like teaching, and I love that.”

Beyond BRP, Teresa loves spending time with her family, especially when her husband and son are home from work on the weekends, and caring for her animal clan of six dogs and five birds.
