Meet the Team: Jessica Dowler

Jessica Dowler

Electrical Mechanic Jessica Dowler “jumped on the opportunities that renewable energy offers years ago and never looked back.”

With experience as an equipment operator in wind and eight years of experience doing civil and grading work in solar, Jessica has expanded her expertise by taking on electrical work since joining one of Blue Ridge Power’s Georgia project sites in 2022.

As part of the electrical team, she does the trenching and backfilling work to lay the medium voltage (MV) cable and connect it to the inverters that convert direct current (DC) energy the solar panels generate to alternating current (AC) electricity, which the electrical grid uses. Jessica also builds the rock ring pads surrounding the inverters and assists with the open circuit voltage (VOC) testing, the maximum voltage that solar panels can produce. Ensuring this work has minimal impact on the land is a top priority, so Jessica also works on erosion control and implementing Blue Ridge Power’s SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Protection Plan) for the site.

I like the traveling and seeing new parts of the country. I’m lucky to work with a solid group of guys that treat me with respect. I enjoy being challenged to learn new things and using my past experiences to help solve current job site problems.

Just as she enjoys adding new skills in her professional life, Jessica also seeks out new experiences in her personal life. Outside of work, she likes to spend time outdoors and go on epic adventures with friends, including going sky diving and to music festivals.
