Meet Blue Ridge Power’s new Senior Substation & SCADA Project Manager, Thomas Ashworth. Raised in the energy capitol of the U.S., Houston, TX, Thomas did what many Houstonian engineers do after college—he headed straight into the oil and gas industry and spent 10 years working for Chevron. His unique experience in both process automation and power systems led him to an opportunity in Kazakhstan where he and his family lived for two years.
But when the pandemic forced them to leave the country, Thomas found a new career path in renewable energy at Sunnova Energy. As the Senior Engineering Project Manager for Commercial & Industrial and Microgrids, he managed projects from development and feasibility through engineering, construction and handover.
“Long story short, I’m am a proud employee of BRP and thankful for the opportunity to work for such a great company.”
In his role at Blue Ridge Power, Thomas will lead the execution of technical development, design, construction and commissioning for the Substation and SCADA project scopes.
Outside of work, Thomas enjoys practicing Jiu Jitsu and is a lover of the outdoors and of all-things music. In addition to his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, he also holds a degree in music production and worked in various music studios prior to starting his engineering career.
